Try Shooting This Summer

Bring the family and give shooting sports a go these holidays

Over the school holidays, local shooting clubs around New Zealand are opening their gates for Try Shooting This Summer, a series of relaxed family days run by local clubs. Nine host clubs are taking part, from Auckland to Otago, so there may be one near you. Whether you have never tried target shooting before or you are simply curious, you are very welcome.

What to expect

• A safe, welcoming and fun day out for the whole family

• A safety briefing before anyone starts

• A chance to try target shooting in a calm, friendly setting, run by local clubs

• Time outdoors, away from screens, doing something kids and parents can enjoy together

• Friendly locals who are happy to answer your questions about the sport

Ages, times and any costs vary by club: [age/time/cost details per club]

What's provided

• Eye and ear protection

• Ammunition, kindly supplied by Gun City

The values behind the sport

Shooting sports teach skills that last well beyond the range: patience, respect, safety, responsibility and a strong sense of community. They are great things for kids to learn, and a pleasure for parents to share with them.
