OIA Response: Licence Exits and Reinstate Applications

COLFO asked Police under the Official Information Act how many people left the firearms licensing system, and how many applied to return, in each month from August 2025 to August 2026.
Police reported that 13,899 Individual licence holders exited the system between 1 August 2025 and 31 August 2026, and that 2,616 people applied to reinstate their licence over the same period. Of those reinstate applications, 1,303 were issued and 1,267 were still awaiting a decision when the data was retrieved on 2 September 2026.
