We are incredibly proud to have helped bring this piece to life with the team at Re: News. They approached the conversation with kindness and an openness to listen and learn, which is not something we have experienced as a community from the media.
Mental health and firearms are a difficult subject because we know that the trust in Police doesn't exist for the majority of licensed firearm owners. But groups like Mental Hunts have good advice and resources to help you navigate things while keeping your firearms license.
Also a special mention to Brodie for giving an insight into rural firearm owners and helping humanise us at a time when other groups are trying to make the public fear us. If you need another reason to write submissions on the Arms Act, chumanizeonsider how little it takes for an officer to determine you are no longer fit and proper and the challenge/cost to regain that status.
This work helps bring awareness of the issues licensed firearm owners must navigate and helps our increasingly urbanized population understand who we are.
